8 new monologues, written by 8 European writers taking on the wide open notion of the project of Europe in today’s world. This three-way co-production between TAK Theater Liechtenstein, Nationaltheater Weimar (Germany), Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg (Luxembourg), will share all responsibilities.
The cast is divided between Liechtenstein actors and ensemble members of the Nationaltheater Weimar, my director colleague for 4 of the 8 monologues is Rafael Kohn from Luxembourg, rehearsing in Weimar. The set and costumes are built in the Weimar workshops, and for the last two weeks of rehearsals everyone will come to Liechtenstein to put it all together, opening September 14th. From there PROJEKT EUROPA will travel to the other two venues. An ambitious and exciting project, that I am proud to be a part of. Stay tuned! August 19 – September 14, 2019.

Duck (Billy) has reached the end of his rope and only communicates by quacking. After a career in the CIA, which has led to a downward emotional spiral, he finds himself on a park bench, which happens to be the home of his older brother Crumb (John), who was also once a CIA operative and Duck‘s colleague. Crumb lost faith in the system, leaving his younger brother to kill for reasons of state while he, Crumb, dropped out of society. The play is an exploration of Duck’s path, from faithfully patriotic to psychically distressed and unmoored.
